Dip back for a kiss with streetlights in the background and lit by my studio lights - Conway Riverwalk

One year anniversary and bridal portraits at the Conway Riverwalk

It seems like I’ve had a lot of weddings and photo sessions recently at the Conway Riverwalk. It’s a beautiful alternative location for pictures if you want to get away from the beach. This couple got married about a year ago back in their hometown, but due to weather and other circumstances they weren’t happy with the pictures from their wedding. So while they were on their anniversary vacation in Myrtle Beach, the bride wanted to put back on her wedding dress and take some bridal portraits, as well as some romantic pictures with her husband. As I mentioned in …

Sunset on the Waccamaw River - Wachesaw Plantation

Wedding ceremony at a chapel with the reception at Kimbels in Wachesaw Plantation

This was my second wedding this year at the beautiful Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC. Some of my favorite wedding pictures in my galleries have been from Wachesaw Plantation. Symmes, the bride, began her preparations at Stox & Co salon in Litchfield. I met them there to get some pictures of the hair and makeup prep and just some fun pictures of the bridesmaids hanging out before getting dressed. At the salon, they actually have a large private yoga studio area where the bridesmaids were able to get dressed. I walked around and took some nice pictures of the …

Couple having fun with their dogs Vereen Memorial Gardens

Fun engagement portraits with the dogs at Vereen Memorial Gardens

This was my first time taking engagement portraits at the Vereen Memorial Historical Gardens in Little River, SC. This area has a lot of hiking trails and boardwalks over the salt marshes. It is located right next to the Intracoastal Waterway. This couple wanted to bring their two dogs to the engagement pictures so it’s great that the Vereen Memorial Gardens is very dog friendly, we saw a lot of people walking around with their pets. I wasn’t very familiar with this location, so we started out the session walking around a bit with the dogs and finding some great …

Groom dipping bride in front of the sunset - Upper Mill Plantation

Beautiful wedding at Upper Mill Plantation

I had a lot of fun photographing another recent wedding at Upper Mill Plantation in Bucksville, SC. This wedding’s bride was also a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed a few months back. The bride from that wedding was a bridesmaid in this one as well, you can view her bridal portraits in a post here. Hopefully they weren’t too sick of me after shooting both of them in two weddings and in bridal portraits! There are a lot of pretty spots at Upper Mill Plantation for wedding pictures. We started out doing portraits of the bridesmaids and groomsmen separately …

Bride posing with her cheek beside the horse - Upper Mill Plantation

Bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation in Bucksville

I had a lot of fun shooting bridal portraits at Upper Mill Plantation this past spring. This bride and groom just got married at the plantation on Saturday, so I’m now able to post some of these pictures. Upper Mill Plantation has a lot of pretty photography spots. We started out walking to the pond near the entrance to the area. This marsh area has lots of moss covered oak trees growing from water. The combination of the sunset reflecting off the water and the light filtering through the trees is a really beautiful backdrop for a bridal portrait. Next …

Man lifting fiance into the air under Live Oaks - Litchfield Plantation

Engagement portraits at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island

It’s been a several years since I did a photography session at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island. My last wedding back in 2011 at Litchfield Plantation was really beautiful with the bride arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. I was told they were no longer booking events and that they were turning the area into a housing development, but I guess that decision was changed. The recently engaged couple featured in this post had family that owned a home inside Litchfield Plantation, so we were able to do the engagement pictures wherever we liked. I notice on their website that anyone can pay …

First dance at Wachesaw Plantation

Beautiful Afternoon wedding at Wachesaw Plantation

It’s been a while since I’ve been to Wachesaw Plantation for a wedding. It’s a beautiful wedding site on the Waccamaw River, especially lovely at sunset as the light filters through the many trees. The bride and groom at this wedding wanted to do a first look so they could get most of the wedding pictures done before the ceremony. That is an excellent way to do things because the couple can start having fun after the ceremony. This also means that most of the pictures would be done earlier in the day when the sunlight is much harsher. Thankfully at Wachesaw, …

Engagement portrait with poodle sitting on the train tracks - Conway River Walk

Two engagement photography sessions at the Conway Riverwalk, one with a Poodle

I like to do engagement sessions for my upcoming weddings during this slower time of the year. I recently had two sets of wedding clients that wanted to do engagement pictures at the Conway River Walk, so I combined photos from both their sessions into one post. I’m a little partial to the first set below because they had a poodle that looks almost like my dog Penny. Their poodle was a little nervous, especially up on the railroad track, just like my dog would be with the tail tucked down tight. The very last picture in the first set below …

Sunset engagement pictures at the historic waterfront in Georgetown, SC

This was the first time I’ve done any engagement portraits at the historic waterfront area of Georgetown. I think it’s just the distance and the fact that most people are more interested in the beach that I haven’t made it over that way. I do so much at the beach. I always like it when I get to do something different. The historic Georgetown waterfront area will give you a similar look to doing engagement pictures at the Conway River Walk. You still have a lot of trees, historic-looking shops, and a boardwalk on the water. The main thing you …
