Lifting veil into the air - Pawleys Plantation

Beautiful spring wedding at Pawleys Plantation

It’s great to be back in the busy wedding season for 2024. I haven’t posted a wedding from Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club in a while, even though it’s one of my most frequent wedding locations in Pawleys Island. I thought it was time I added a new post, as there have been a lot of changes to the landscaping around the clubhouse, and I always love the beautiful pictures on the golf course. We had a gorgeous day with perfect weather for this April 5th wedding with Taylor & Austin. I knew they would be a fun couple. …

Bride and groom kissing with blowing veil - Pelican Inn - Pawleys Island

Wedding at the Pawleys Island Chapel with a reception at the Pelican Inn

The Pelican Inn is a bed and breakfast built in the mid-1800s in the beautiful Pawleys Island, SC area. While the house itself is not very impressive looking from the outside, it’s in a perfect location between the salt marsh and beach, surrounded by old oak trees and greenery. It’s a unique spot, and I don’t know of any other wedding location in the area quite like it. The inside of the house has a very rustic look but is clean and air conditioned. The wedding decorations and guest’s tables are set up on the large porch surrounding the house, …

Kiss in the sunset with a great balanced composition to the picture Pawleys Plantation

Beautiful sunset pictures with a happy bride and groom at Pawleys Plantation

Pawleys Plantation in Pawleys Island, SC, is still one of my favorite wedding locations. The staff is excellent, and everything is always well organized. Sunsets are also beautiful in front of the clubhouse and out of the golf course itself. Kiely and Carson, the bride and groom, had some of the best smiles I’ve had with a wedding couple. In almost every picture, especially when they looked at each other, they had big natural smiles and looked very happy. This always makes it easy to get great photos. If you want to skip down and see the sunset pictures with …

Couple having fun with their dogs Vereen Memorial Gardens

Fun engagement portraits with the dogs at Vereen Memorial Gardens

This was my first time taking engagement portraits at the Vereen Memorial Historical Gardens in Little River, SC. This area has a lot of hiking trails and boardwalks over the salt marshes. It is located right next to the Intracoastal Waterway. This couple wanted to bring their two dogs to the engagement pictures so it’s great that the Vereen Memorial Gardens is very dog friendly, we saw a lot of people walking around with their pets. I wasn’t very familiar with this location, so we started out the session walking around a bit with the dogs and finding some great …

I love that bokeh from the sunset through the trees - Mansfield Plantation, Georgetown

Sunset engagement pictures at Mansfield Plantation, Georgetown SC

My recent couple was looking for a plantation type setting for their engagement pictures with a lot of moss and old oak trees. They got a nice quick response from calling Mansfield Plantation in Georgetown. There was a reasonable $160 charge to do engagement pictures on the plantation grounds so they decided to do the session there. I’ve done many engagement sessions in downtown Georgetown, but I’ve never shot portraits at Mansfield Plantation. I’m always excited to try a new location so I was happy to go, even with the long drive from Myrtle Beach. The location is a bit difficult …

Kiss under the Oak Trees on the golf course 35mm f/2 - Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

Wedding portraits on the golf course at Pawleys Plantation

I’ve had a very busy October this year with weddings. In fact, I had three weddings in two weeks at one of my favorite locations, Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. The wedding I’m featuring below was a small relaxed one. This gave me more time for taking pictures with the bride and groom after the ceremony. Normally I would just do pictures of the couple around the clubhouse, but the bride wanted to take a golf cart and do some pictures out on the golf course itself. The course winds through the salt marsh area of Pawleys Island and …

Flowergirl helping the ring bearer with his tie - Pawleys Plantation Golf & Country Club

Pawleys Island wedding on the marsh with a reception at Pawleys Plantation

This beautiful wedding at a private home in Pawleys Island was a great way to start my busy spring season. A couple of weeks before the wedding, I met the bride at her wedding location for some portraits. The marsh boardwalks in Pawleys are always beautiful for pictures. I love doing bridal or engagement photos before a wedding to get to know a client and make sure they like my style. This bride seemed happy, so I figured she would like the wedding pictures, and she certainly did. I don’t think she would mind me posting the nice message I …

Man lifting fiance into the air under Live Oaks - Litchfield Plantation

Engagement portraits at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island

It’s been a several years since I did a photography session at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island. My last wedding back in 2011 at Litchfield Plantation was really beautiful with the bride arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. I was told they were no longer booking events and that they were turning the area into a housing development, but I guess that decision was changed. The recently engaged couple featured in this post had family that owned a home inside Litchfield Plantation, so we were able to do the engagement pictures wherever we liked. I notice on their website that anyone can pay …

Bride and groom kissing on a marsh walkway in Pawleys Island

Beautiful evening wedding at the Pawleys Island Chapel with reception in the Hammock Shops

I always love photographing weddings down near the inlet area of Pawleys Island. This wedding was small and relaxed without a large bridal party. The bride was getting ready at her parent’s home and the ceremony was at the small chapel on the marsh in Pawleys Island. The chapel is really lovely because the big windows overlooking the marsh let in a lot of soft light that hits the couple during the ceremony. The only problem is because it’s so much brighter outside than inside, it’s difficult to see the marsh through the windows in pictures. One of my favorite …

Couple walking down marsh boardwalk together at sunset

Fun engagement pictures in Garden City on a cold afternoon and Storyboard 3

I haven’t had a chance to blog about engagement portraits recently. Things are getting slow, so I thought I would post pictures from this recent cold weather engagement session down at the southern tip of Garden City Beach. I’ve done many photo sessions in Garden City, but this one was unusual because they live in a private neighborhood where I usually can’t photograph. The southern end of Garden City is beautiful. It’s a short walk from the beach to the boardwalks that go out and over the marsh. I rarely get to shoot on a marsh walkway because most of these are privately …
