Nicolina and Sam’s October wedding at 21 Main Events in North Myrtle Beach

I had ten weddings this year at 21 Main Events. It’s one of my favorite wedding venues, and I love that they recommend me and I get to photograph many weddings there. Now that things are slowing down, I wanted to post another of my recent weddings from the past year.

This wedding with Nicolina and Sam was on October 10th, 2024. My wife and I arrived around 1 pm to take some detail shots and getting ready pictures. They had a cute bride balloon behind the couch, and it made a great background for some fun photos with the bridesmaids. I was working with Jerry from Luminous Event Films. We work together all the time, so we know the shots we both like to get. Sam was great at doing groom action shots for us, like adjusting his tie and cufflinks and buttoning up his jacket. So I got the photos while Jerry caught the action for the video.

Nicolina & Sam wanted to do a “first look” with each other in the courtyard and exchange gifts. We knew the time would be a little tight after the ceremony and that we wouldn’t make it back down to the beach during cocktail hour. So, even though it was early in the day, we went down to the Gazebo for pictures with the two of them. Something nice about the Gazebo is that even with the bright sun, I can catch some angles with the sun behind the couple without harsh shadows or with the background too blown out like it would be by the ocean. I also had my Meta Raybans on and caught some behind-the-scenes action at the wedding.

I like to take pictures of the whole wedding party at the Gazebo. You can check out some of my fun pictures from previous weddings. However, we were running a little behind after the hair and makeup and knew it would be too hard to get the large group there, so we decided to take all the wedding party pictures in the courtyard. We had time before the ceremony for a few shots with the groomsmen, but we took most of the pictures right after the ceremony.

With the earlier sunset in October, by the time we finished the family and wedding party pictures, it was getting close to sunset time. While we didn’t get to go down to the beach for sunset pictures at this wedding, we took advantage of the beautiful courtyard for the sunset pictures. The only issue is there was a table for cocktail hour setup right behind where I like to do the pictures. We couldn’t move it, so I opened my lens to f1.4 to blur the background as much as possible and tried to hide the table behind them. I don’t think it’s too noticeable unless I point it out. Later in the evening, I pulled them back out for more pictures after dark under the lights of the courtyard, which are always beautiful.

Everyone had a blast at the reception. The band played great music, and everyone had a lot of fun dancing. Grandad was even out on the dancefloor, having a lot of fun. During the first dance, the groom dropped the bride while trying to dip her. No one got hurt, and everyone had a big laugh about it. It happened right in front of one of Jerry’s video cameras, so I think he got a great shot of it. I always follow the couple to tables for candid shots during the reception, but if you can get each table together for a group picture, it’s nice to have photos taken with everyone in attendance. At the end of the evening, they had a bubble exit under the courtyard lights. Please let me know if you are planning a wedding at 21 Main Events. I shoot many weddings there yearly and can share many more pictures with you.
