My favorite family pictures in Myrtle Beach from 2024

After getting through the busy vacation season in Myrtle Beach, I like to reflect on some of my favorite family photo sessions from the year. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you will have seen these pictures and many more as I post them. These are a few highlights to keep an eye out for in the gallery below.

Family pictures for one of my favorite repeat clients

It’s been a few years since I have seen one of my favorite couples. I took their engagement pictures, photographed their wedding back in 2019, anniversary pictures at the Conway River Walk, maternity portraits at Caledonia Golf Course, and now, family pictures with their two daughters. When I saw them this year, I couldn’t believe they had two daughters! I felt like I had just taken their maternity portraits and thought I would see the baby from those pictures. I didn’t realize it had been over three years ago when I took the maternity portraits! Time really does fly.

I had several other repeat clients this year, which I always love. For example, a family that takes portraits each winter at Debordieu in Georgetown. In one of my sessions in Debordieu this year, we went to the golf course instead of just the beach and found some beautiful spots where the sunlight filters through the oaks. I’m going to have to try that location again. Of course, I love all my new clients, and I hope they can become repeat clients in the future as well.

Family pictures for my videographer friend in the wedding industry

Two things always make me feel like I’m doing a good job. When I get repeat clients and when my friends in the wedding industry use me for their pictures. This year, I got to take the family pictures for Jerry from Luminous Event Films, whom I work with often. In fact, he will be at my wedding tomorrow. They had the two cutest full-size poodles and their adult son and daughter for the pictures. He is kind of a geeky guy like me. That is why we are behind the cameras 😂. But they had a great time, and I loved the pictures of their family and dogs at Huntington Beach State Park.

I got to have my own mini-photo session. My wife’s family, including her parents, brother, niece, and nephew, were visiting from Colombia, so we wanted to take them for family pictures on the beach. I mainly concentrated on photos of her with her family, but I also set up the camera on a tripod and got in a few shots myself.

Proposal with their daughter at a surprise picnic on the beach

Another photo session I loved was a sweet surprise proposal where only the dad and his daughter knew he would propose. The little girl had such a cute and happy smile when Mom showed her the ring. They had a lovely picnic on the beach through MB Picnic Co, with whom I’ve worked several times. After taking engagement pictures with just mom and dad and family pictures with their daughter, they enjoyed the picnic on the beach as the sun set behind them.

Getting some help over the busy summer

My wife, Lizeth, has assisted me as a second shooter at some weddings for many years. She works as an architect, so I don’t want to put too much on her plate. However, she told me she wanted to try doing some family photo sessions. I’ve trained her in how I shoot and showed her all the spots I like for family pictures. She is excellent with people and gets them to relax and have a great time, which is the most crucial part of family pictures. Everyone she has photographed has loved the session, and I’ve received great feedback. She has her own photo gallery now if you want to check out her work, and she took several of the family pictures you see below.

I could mention many more things about the locations and families featured below, but I will just let you check out the pictures. If you have any questions about a location or would like to set up your own family session, please let me know.
