Pawleys Plantation wedding with beautiful flowers, a trolly, and a great sunset on the golf course

I’ve been busy with weddings at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club this May. This beautiful Friday afternoon was my second of five weddings at this location in the past month. We had some near-record heat for May, but it cooled down later in the day, and everyone still had a great time.

Jessie from Willow Events had flowers, invitations, and other jewelry collected for detail shots when I arrived. I always recommend that brides make a collection of their details before the wedding, and I can take those pictures quickly. Since Willow Events is also a florist, there was an unusual amount of flowers everywhere. Each table had a unique bouquet, the wedding arch was covered in flowers, and even the bride and bridesmaids’ earrings were made of intricate small flowers.

After some pictures with Melissa and the girls in their robes, I got shots of all the guys getting ready. JD, the groom, loved the new watch that he received as a present from Melissa. I also got some beautiful portraits of Melissa standing in the light from the double doors and outside the bride’s getting-ready area on the porch. I love all the intense bright colors in her bouquet.

The bride and groom wanted a first look before the ceremony, so I took them to my usual shady area near the lake behind the clubhouse. This was a great idea because they had a big family for pictures. We finished all the family pictures and some bridal party portraits before the ceremony.

Wedding on the Golf Course

Weddings are always beautiful on the lawn behind the clubhouse at Pawleys Plantation. I’ve noticed that lately, they are pointing the angle of the ceremony more toward the trees than the golf course. This direction is an excellent idea because you don’t see any golfers in the background. After the ceremony, we took a few more pictures but couldn’t venture much onto the golf course because it was so busy. I knew I was taking Melissa and JD back out for sunset pictures, so I wasn’t worried about it. I would have liked to get more shots with the bridal party, but everyone was getting hot and tired.

Because of getting most of the pictures done before the ceremony, JD and Melissa got to hang out with everyone during the cocktail hour before their introductions. This was a fun partying group. When the first dances were over, everyone was on the dance floor, having a great time.

Beautiful sunset with the trolly and on the golf course

After dinner, I took JD and Melissa back out for sunset pictures. I noticed they had the trolly to take everyone home later in the evening, so I suggested we start with some pictures around it. It was parked in a great spot, with the sunset filtering through the trees behind it. We even got some cute shots of the two of them on the back of the trolly.

Annie at Pawleys Plantation always provides me a cart to take the couple out for pictures on the golf course. Jessie, the wedding planner, came with us to help me with the dress, and she even fluffed it up for some cute shots. That evening, the sunset was beautiful in my favorite spot under the mossy oaks. When we finished on the golf course hole that overlooks the Pawleys Island marsh, the sun started to set behind the trees in the background. Everything was almost perfect until the sprinklers were off and got us wet!

After the sunset pictures, we finished with more dancing and a fun sparkler exit. DJ Wayne always gets the party started with a big group shot on the dance floor. They finished out the evening with a sparkler exit. Please let me know if you plan a wedding at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club. I go there all the time, so I know the best spots for pictures and can give some suggestions to make the day go smoothly. I hope you enjoy the images below.
