I was just completing the wedding album for Sarah and Jeff, the bride and groom from a beautiful wedding this past October 27th. I remembered that I never posted pictures from Sarah’s bridal portrait session from about a month before the wedding. These bridal portraits were taken at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club, the same location as their wedding. Pawleys Plantation is one of my favorite venues for photography, you can read more about this location in my featured blog category here.
I started out taking pictures of the bride in front of the clubhouse. I always love the bokeh I get from my Nikon 85mm f1.4 lens with the spots of sunlight filtering through the trees. With it being Fall, the sunset was not in the ideal location, but I was still able to get some great shots without seeing any cars in the background. Next, we did some portraits with the columns at the front clubhouse entryway. Pawleys Plantation Country Club has a very pretty main entrance. In fact, Sarah and Jeff’s wedding was the first one ever held on the front lawn of the clubhouse.
Next, we did some pictures in the back doorway overlooking the golf course. Then we went out on the course itself for some bridal portraits. I always love taking pictures on the green grass covered hill with the clubhouse in the background, I go to Pawleys Plantation so much I know all the best spots. We didn’t end up having time to travel out to any other locations on the golf course for pictures, but we did walk around to the far side of the lake. I’ve never tried doing portraits there and it worked out really well. The only problem with trying to do a reflection picture like the final one below, you need really still water to get a good reflection. The fountain makes the water move a bit too much.
This bride and groom were a lot of fun and I’m glad I not only go to do bridal portraits, but their wedding and photo booth as well. I hope you enjoy the pictures below. If you are interested in wedding photography at Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club please let me know!
