Fall wedding at The Venue at White Oaks Farm

It was great to be back for another wedding at The Venue at White Oaks Farm. You can check out a couple of my previous posts here and here, discussing some of this venue’s benefits. I especially like the clean white look of the interior and the purpose-built rooms for the bride and groom preparations. 

The Venue at White Oaks Farm has made a few upgrades since the last time I was there. There is now a concrete patio under the ceremony location’s arches and a paved pathway leading from the reception hall. This would be helpful if the lawn were wet and soggy from recent rain. It also gives this area a more sophisticated look. More flowers are growing since the last time I was there for a wedding, giving some nice additional options for pictures.

Ceremony Preparations

When I arrived, I started with pictures of the dresses hanging by the doors and detail shots of the rings and invitation. I always love seeing my engagement pictures featured on a couple’s “Save The Date” card. My wife Lizeth was a second photographer at this wedding. I spent most of my time with Jennifer and the bridesmaids while my wife took Jared and the guys outside for fun pictures by the lake. She is terrific at getting the guys to fool around and have fun with the photos. I’m not sure what was happening with the face of the one groomsman hanging from the hexagon 😂.

The new paved walkway at White Oaks Farm makes a nice view for pictures of the wedding party walking toward the ceremony. After Jennifer’s father gave her away, he tripped on her veil and almost pulled it out on the way back! Everyone just laughed about it, and I caught some very funny expressions on their faces. If Eyecon Films caught this on video, it would be great.

Besides that, the ceremony went smoothly, and I got some beautiful shots. The sun was getting low in the sky, giving a nice glow behind the bride and groom. I loved the pictures right after the ceremony with the cheers and happiness of Jennifer and Jared. You can see how happy they were finally being officially married.

After the ceremony, we went by the lake for family pictures and pictures with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. The bright sunlight hitting the fountain’s water spray makes an excellent background for portraits. 

Next, I concentrated on pictures with the bride and groom as sunset approached. My wife helped me with some veil shots down by the fountain in the lake. If a bride has a long flowing veil, I always love to throw it in the air for a few photos. If I’m working solo at a wedding, I find a bridesmaid to help me with this task.

I also included some of the new garden flowers and other plants in the pictures. I bet it will be pretty in the front garden at The Venue at White Oaks Farm next spring.

Fun reception with great dancing and my photo booth

After introductions, the bride and groom’s first dance, and wedding speeches, the bride and her father had a fun, somewhat choreographed dance together. It’s always a great party with Eyecon Entertainment, he had the whole room dancing, and everyone was having a blast.

I also had my photo booth service at this wedding. I thought for a while now about getting out of the photo booth service because it’s so much work to set everything up. But I have a very nice setup and a lot of fun props. I also have a real camera taking the pictures instead of an iPad, giving the images a more professional look. Everyone always has a blast in it, so I decided to keep it as a wedding add-on. I’ve just had to go up slightly on the price I charge for the service.
