Pawleys Plantation Golf and Country Club is one of my favorite locations where I photograph weddings often. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the site is excellent for photography. There isn’t much I can say that I haven’t said in some of my earlier blog posts about the area. This wedding ceremony was in the early afternoon, so we had some harsh sunlight during the ceremony, but it wasn’t too bad. The golf course behind the clubhouse is a great place for a wedding and pictures after. It is nice to do everything in the same area instead of traveling to different locations. The wide-angle shot below of the club looks a bit “photoshopped” because I was playing around some with HDR. Because the sun was so bright and I wanted to get some detail in the sky, I took multiple shots at different exposures and then combined them. The idea is to capture some detail in the bright parts of the image, like the sky, while still seeing details in the shadows.
This couple wanted to do a first look so they could see each other before the ceremony. We did a real one first inside the club and then did another pretend first look outside just for a different look. The groom was a character, I think he over-dramatized the first look a bit, but the pictures turned out fun. They were great to work with and seemed to enjoy everything. I especially liked the pictures of them close to sunset on the golf course and in the little garden area sitting on the tree. I hope you enjoy some of the images below.
