It’s been a several years since I did a photography session at Litchfield Plantation in Pawleys Island. My last wedding back in 2011 at Litchfield Plantation was really beautiful with the bride arriving on a horse-drawn carriage. I was told they were no longer booking events and that they were turning the area into a housing development, but I guess that decision was changed. The recently engaged couple featured in this post had family that owned a home inside Litchfield Plantation, so we were able to do the engagement pictures wherever we liked. I notice on their website that anyone can pay a rental fee of $200 and do bridal, family or engagement pictures in the area. So that would be a nice option for someone who wants to get away from the beach and have a plantation look for their pictures.
For the engagement pictures featured below we started out on the Avenue of Live Oaks at Litchfield Plantation. I especially like the picture where he lifted his fiancé into the air surrounded by the Live Oaks. We also found a beautiful spot on the lawn with the sunlight filtering through the branches of the oaks trees, that always makes a good background for a picture. Another shot I especially liked was the couple standing under the tree moss surrounded by the bright sunlight, it gave a unique glow to the picture. Because their family owned a home in there, we were even able to go down by the private boat docks for pictures. The dock is down a hidden dirt road that would be hard to find without knowing it was there. Finally we finished up with some beautiful sunset pictures by the marsh.
