This was my first time photographing a wedding at La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, SC. The ceremony was held on the beautiful lawn looking out towards the lake and rows of grapevines. The clouds looked dark and ominous before the ceremony, but it still wasn’t raining, and the weather forecast looked like the rain might pass us by. The couple decided to go ahead and go for the outdoor ceremony. Almost as soon as the bride’s father walked her down the aisle, it started raining, thankfully just a shower and not a downpour as we got later in the afternoon. I got some really cute pictures of the couple making their vows and their first kiss in the rain. One of my favorites below is the two running from the rain after the ceremony.
As soon as the rain stopped, I took pictures with the family, the bridal party, and then the couple alone. I got a lot of nice shots with just the two of them, but I thought the sun would come out before sunset, and I planned some spots that would have been great with the sunlight filtering through the trees. Thankfully we took plenty of pictures right after the ceremony. Not only did it stay cloudy, but a downpour started shortly after. Instead of letting this ruin the reception and everyone staying crowded under the tent, the bride and bridesmaids danced in the rain. Soon almost the entire group was out in the mud and rain having a great time. It was so much fun taking hundreds of shots of the group dancing in the rain. I’ve never seen that happen at a wedding before!
